His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia

Born on May 14, 1953, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni is the son of the late His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk, King-Father of Cambodia, and Her Majesty Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of Cambodia.

His Majesty pursued his early education in Phnom Penh before continuing his studies in Prague, Czechoslovakia, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for music, dance, and the arts. A devoted advocate for Cambodian culture, he has spent much of his life promoting his nation’s rich heritage on the global stage. Among his many distinguished roles, he served as President of the Khmer Dance Association in France and as Cambodia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

On 14 October 2004, following the voluntary abdication of His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk, the Throne Council unanimously elected His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni as King of Cambodia. He ascended the throne with deep commitment to the nation and the well-being of the Cambodian people. His Majesty speaks Khmer, Czech, French, and English.
