Cambodia Visas: What You Need to Know

Cambodia Visas: What You Need to Know

When planning international travel, visas are often a top concern—and for good reason. A mistake in the process can lead to serious complications. Fortunately, obtaining a visa for Cambodia is relatively straightforward.

To enter Cambodia, most travelers require a visa unless you are from one of the visa-exempt countries. Following are the three options for obtaining a Cambodia visa:

Option 1: Apply for a Visa at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Berlin

If you live in Germany, we recommend applying for your visa through the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Berlin, where you can receive personalized assistance and choose between in-person or postal application options.

a. In-Person Application at the Embassy

Visit the Embassy with the required documents during office hours (please check for public holiday closures). No appointment is required. Please bring the following:

Visa Application Form: Download, fill out, and print, or you can obtain the form at the Embassy and complete it on-site (filling out the form should take only about 5 minutes).
Original Passport: The visa sticker will be affixed to your passport.
One Photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm): Taken within the last 6 months (for the form).
Visa Fee: Payment is accepted in cash only. If needed, you may also make a bank transfer and present proof of transfer at the Embassy.

Processing Time: 3 working days for Tourist (T) and Business (E) visas.

Embassy Address: Benjamin-Vogelsdorff-Str. 2, 13187 Berlin, Germany

b. Postal Application

If you are unable to visit the Embassy, you may apply by post. The visa will be processed within three working days after receiving your passport. Send the following documents to the Embassy:

Completed Visa Application Form: Download, fill out, and print.
Original Passport: The visa sticker will be affixed to your passport.
One Photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm): Taken within the last 6 months (affixed to the form).
Proof of Bank Transfer: The transfer purpose should be listed as “Visa: [Last Name, First Name].”
Return Envelope: Include a self-addressed, stamped return envelope.

Visa Fee Payment: Please transfer the 40-euro visa fee to:

Bank Name: Deutsche Bank AG Berlin/Branch 701
Account Name: Royal Embassy of Cambodia
IBAN: DE74 1007 0100 0272 0498 10
BIC/SWIFT: DEUTDEBB101

Important Note: The Embassy is not liable for delays or losses caused by postal services. We recommend using registered mail (e.g., Registered Mail Standard or a higher service). If you would like us to purchase the return envelope on your behalf, you can include the fee for registered mail or a higher service when transferring the visa fee, and we will assist with handling the return mailing for you.

Incomplete applications or missing documents will not be processed. Additional documents may be requested at the consular officer's discretion. Therefore, it's always important to write your phone number and/or email clearly and correctly.

Option 2: Apply for an e-Visa

If you are unable to visit the Embassy or prefer not to apply by post, you may choose to apply for an e-Visa. This allows you to apply online through the official website of Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (the Embassy has no control over it). Please visit the official e-Visa website here.

Eligibility: Available for Tourist (T) and Business (E) visas only.
Processing Time: Typically 3 business days.
Validity: Single entry within three months of issuance, with a stay of up to 30 days.

Requirements:

■ Valid passport (with at least six months’ validity from your date of entry to Cambodia)
■ A recent passport-sized photo in digital format (JPG or PNG)
■ A valid credit card (Visa or MasterCard)

E-Visa processing typically takes no more than three working days, but it can take up to two weeks. Be sure to apply well in advance. When you receive your e-Visa, print TWO copies to take with you.

Important: You can leave Cambodia via any border crossing or airport, regardless of the type of visa you hold. However, not all entry points accept e-Visas. Before traveling, please verify whether your chosen entry point accepts e-Visas by checking the list of eligible entry points here .

If you plan to enter Cambodia through an entry point that does not accept e-Visas, or if you do not yet have a visa, you may apply for a Visa on Arrival (VoA) at that entry point. For further details, see Option 3 below.

Option 3: Obtain a Visa on Arrival (VoA)

Important Note: Only Diplomatic Visa (A) and Khmer Visa (K) allow multiple entries. Other types, such as Tourist, Business, and Courtesy visas, are single-entry only. If you plan to leave Cambodia and return (e.g., to visit neighboring countries or take a boat cruise), you will need a new visa for each re-entry.
